Northumberland County is inviting perspectives from across the community as we develop a Community Safety and Well-being Plan.
Required under the Province’s Safer Ontario Act, 2018, this plan will outline actions for improving safety and well-being in our community. The goal is for residents and community partners to collectively address the root causes of crime and complex social issues by focusing on prevention methods that will improve quality of life for all.
Community safety and well-being is a shared responsibility. The process for defining local actions will therefore involve a multitude of voices, including members of the public, local government, police services, health, education, social and community services.
A variety of information resources are available on this page to help you learn more about Community Safety & Well-Being plans and the background on this process in Northumberland.
The public engagement objectives for the Community Safety & Well-being Plan are to:
Gather resident and stakeholder perspectives and experiences with personal safety in the community
Gather feedback about community safety priorities and ideas for improvements.
Obtain input on the ways in which residents, organizations and government can work together to define priorities, resolve issues and promote well-being in our community
The Northumberland Community Safety and Well-Being Plan will be strengthened by a diversity of voices. We would value your input about what actions would have a meaningful impact in your neighbourhood to sustain or improve safety and well-being.
This survey will take about 10 minutes to complete. In doing so, you will be helping to confirm priorities and identify major areas of opportunity to improve safety and well-being in our community.
Your participation in this survey is voluntary and all responses will be kept anonymous. The results will be summarized in a report to be shared with local stakeholders and posted on our website. The report will not include your open-ended responses or any information that could identify you.
If you have any questions about this survey or if you would like to request a paper copy, please contact the project team at tanners@northumberlandcounty.ca or 905-372-3329 ext. 2452.
